It really is going to be a wonderful weekend and to any of you who will be there, please do come over and say hi. It would be lovely to chat with you. |
Tuesday 8th May An incredible weekend has passed for Rhapsody at the 21st Queen Fan Club Convention. Not only was PJ DJ'ing the Queen discos each evening but Paul & PJ also played a 15 minute acoustic Queen medley that was wonderfully received. Obviously playing to the most critical Queen crowd on the planet was never going to be easy but Paul & PJ played a lovely montage of tunes for the most dedicated of Queen fans on the planet and left the stage to a thunderous applause. An unforgetable experience. Here is the set list : Silver Salmon - Rare Queen Demo. First Time Ever Played Live At A Queen Convention Doing Alright - Queen I White Queen - Queen II Misfire - Shear Heart Attack Lazy On A Sunday Afternoon (Inc Kazoo Solo) - Night AT The Opera Long Away - A Day At The Races It's Late - News Of The World In Only 7 Days - Jazz Reaching Out - Queen & Paul Rodgers Say It's Not True - Queen & Paul Rodgers PJ was also blessed with an impromptu jam backstage with Queen & Paul Rodgers current touring rhythm guitarist Mr Jamie Moses who also played an acoustic set just before our own. |

Wednesday 16th August Jacky Gunn of the Official Queen Fan Club has again requested Paul & PJ's services at the forthcoming Freddie Mercury 60th Birthday Party celebrations in Birmingham next month. As we have confirmed already, PJ will be DJ'ing the event but now both Paul & PJ will be gracing the stage very much like they did at this years Queen convention. They will play another acoustic set featuring many of Freddies greatest compositions. We will of course confirm the set list as soon as we have it. |

Wednesday 6th September Paul & PJ were blown away by a spectacular evening of entertainment in honour of Freddie Mercury's 60th Birthday party that was held at the Dominion Theatre in London, home of the record breaking We Will Rock You Show. Only open to distinguished guests and the biggest of Queen fans, Paul & PJ sat with mouths aghast as the show now in it's 5th year truly blew the Rhapsody boys away. The incredible wall of sound and unforgettable atmosphere built through out the evening with special guests Mcfly leading the way with their recent charity cover of Don't Stop Me Now warming up the fans nicely for what was to be an icononic vision of Brian May slowly appearing through hazy dry ice to unleash the immortal solo of Bohemian Rhapsody on us all to shortly be followed by his close friend and compadre Roger Taylor, also mysteriously appearing from a hole in the stage area for the percussion finale. Brian continued acoustically with a very moving Love Of My Life then Roger took the vocals for the bands recent composition Say It's Not True. The We Will Rock You cast took the stage once more with Queen for an unforgettable finale of The Show Must Go On. What a night, what an experience and what a pleasure to be part of |

Sunday 10th September Last night was a tremendous evening for Rhapsody at the Queen Fan Club's 60th Birthday Party for Freddie Mercury. PJ was DJ'ing the event all day which certainly kept him busy but the highlight was when Paul & PJ took the stage for some acoustic Freddie tunes. Tunes the boys chose as most tribute acts stay well clear of due to the complexity. Here is the set list I Can Here Music (Larry Lurex) Death On Two Legs - A Night At The Opera Seaside Rendezvous - A Night At The Opera Nevermore - Queen II Made In Heaven - Mr Bad Guy Funny How Love Is - Queen II Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon - A Night At The Opera Somebody To Love - A Day At The Races In My Defence - The Freddie Mercury Album Here are some wonderful comments on the performance & the evening : Your acoustic set was stunning, honestly, it was actually a highlight of my day! Jacky Gunn Queen Fan Club You guys were/are a delight!! Jen - BrianMay.com PJ & Paul - outstanding (In My defence had me in tears) Frank - Hillock Productions & tour manager We would like to thank all of the Queen fans for their kind words after our performance and to Jacky for the opportunity and support. We have made many new friends and look forward to seeing you all again very soon. |

Thursday 21st September The news we were all hoping for arrived today with Jacky Gunn of the Official Queen Fan Club inviting Rhapsody to play the 2007 Queen Convention being held at Brean Sands, Burnham On Sea in March. We will be playing the final evening of the event (considered by most as the much cherished headlining spot) and are currently working on a very special set list for the for such a worthy occasion. For the 2nd year in succession, PJ has also been requested to DJ the proceedings so a busy convention for Rhapsody looks assured. As the event is strictly for Queen Fan Club members only, to be part of this wonderful weekend, please contact Jacky Gunn through the official Fan Club website www.queenworld.com |
Sunday 1st October We had a fantastic evening yesterday in Ipswich and we would all like to say a huge thank you to the wonderful warm crowd for such an unforgettable reception. It was lovely to see the Queen (& Paul Rodgers) T shirts dotted about which meant the inclusion of 'Say It's Not True' & 'Feel Like Makin' Love' into the ever growing Rhapsody set was a wise decision. More new songs included the splendid '39' & the huge symphonic 'Who Wants To Live Forever', both were met with huge applause ensuring a couple of return visits to Ipswich next year. Many thanks to the landlady for her gracious hospitality and the many kind words from the Queen fans after the show and we all look forward to our return concerts with you next year. |
Wednesday 1st November Below is a review of our recent concert in Southampton from a local who happened
to be there on that very special night. 'If you weren't looking, you could swear that you've gone back in time, and Queen are actually playing down the local pub. When you open your eyes, what you see isn't far from the real thing either. Billed as Rhapsody…Is This The Real Queen?, dressed in the same garb that Queen wore during the Magic tour, and playing music of the same era, Rhapsody are certainly a very good look-alike-sound-alike band. Tonight, with the pub in full hallowe'en swing, they played two great sets. Paying particular attention to detail - from Freddie's trademark moves, to a superbly-replicated 'Brian May' sound. The highest point of the show was a fantastically performed, unabridged rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody. The crowd were on their feet, rocking their hallowe'en costumes off, as the band reached the famous guitar solo. Wayne's World eat your heart out! Rhapsody capped off a great evening with the anthemic We Are The Champions, complete with their Freddie parading in his royal robe and crown. I'm not sure we'll see Rhapsody at venues like this for much longer. So enjoy them when you get the chance!' |
Thursday 19th October Paul & PJ had huge fun on the Duncan Barkes show today. They played 3 acoustic numbers being 39', Somebody To Love & the very
recent Say It's Not True. They aslo discussed at length our first year
anniversary party to be held at The Family Tree in Bognor Regis and also all about
our thoughts and plans for next years Queen Fan Club Convention. We would like
to thank Duncan and all of his team for their continued support and best wishes |
Thursday 2nd November Just a quick update to advise you all that our 1st Anniversary Celebrationary concert has totaly sold out so thank you to all who have purchased tickets already and due to the huge public demand we have added an extra date on the following Sunday 19th November. Tickets can be purchased direct from The Family Tree on 01243 829 313 We guarantee you all 2 very special evenings ! |
Monday 20th November Fantastic form from Rhapsody this weekend. The boys raised roofs all over the country with their first ever mini tour of three 'sell out' gigs in a row. Commencing at The Nottingham Gateway Hotel on Friday night where two hundred and fifty hard and fast Queen fans wined and dined in style and then danced their socks off to some of their all time favourites. A truly blinding gig from our boys in Rhapsody, the lads gave it their all and were rewarded with rapturous applause and appreciation and a promise to return again soon. Saturday and Sunday night bought the boys back closer to home roots with two 'sell out' dates at 'The Family Tree' North Bersted. With full costrume changes and two one hour, (including an acoustic) set on each night, the audience sang themselves hoarse. Roofs were indeed raised |
Sunday 3rd December We had a wonderful evening yesterday at The Marina Fountain in Hastings. Ironically the venue is home turf to another Queen tribute band and we were truly overwhelmed how the crowd took to us so quickly. Hastings really brought out some die hard Queen Fans who could be seen singing every word to every song and shouts for classics such as Great King Rat & Mustapha truly made the band feel at home. An impromptu Mustapha was met with glorious appreciation and we thank everyone who was there for being so vocal with your support and for making it a night to remember. |
Saturday 9th December We truly had a wonderful time yesterdayplaying Butlins in Bognor Regis and before
we go any further Rhapsody would like to say a huge thank you to all of the Butlins
crew for such professionalism in organisation and sound production. You guys
work so hard and we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for making
our show so special. The capacity crowd genuinely sang us off stage to. The noise was nothing short of fantastic and the atmosphere was electric. The sound, the lights, arena and our performance were flawless and it will be an evening we shall not forget for a long while. Thank you Butlins for a great experience. We have a feeling we shall be seeing more of each other in the future. |
Sunday 24th December It's been quite an amazing year for Rhapsody with so many unforgettable highs including our involvement in both the Fan Club Convention, Freddie's 60th Birthday Party, headlining the first night of Butlins 70's Weekend, more sell out shows and of course receiving the amazing news that we are to take our full show to the 2007 Queen Fan Club Convention. We truly could not have asked for any more and all at Rhapsody would love to thank everyone who has helped or contributed in any way in making 2006 such a fantastic year for us. Can we top that in 2007? You betcha we can! Our next show is at The Dorchester in London on the 7th Jan but we are all looking forward to a nice break now over the festive holidays. 'Thank God It's Christmas' folks and have a happy new year! |
Saturday 31st March It's been a while since we posted any news so here is a brief summary of the first quarter of 2007 for Rhapsody. It's really been all about our preparation for the Queen FC convention with much rehearsing to the point of exhaustion culminating to what was a fantastic warm up local show at The Family Tree. Our performance at the convention was massive experience for us. The highlight had to be our wonderful rendition of Barcelona with guest Opera Singer 18 year old Amy Fuller. A truly awesome talent that duly deserved the standing ovation. We would like to say a huge thank you to Neil from Scotland, not just for the acoustic guitar in Las Palabras De Amour but for his dedicated work during the entire show. Here is the complete set list of the evening. I Go Crazy Tie Your Mother Down Keep Yourself Alive Fat Bottomed Girls Angels (Deacy Tribute) Dragon Attack Breakthrough Las Palabras De Amour I Was Born To Love You Driven By You Power To Love Reaching Out Say It's Not True Hammer To Fall I Want It All I Want To Break Free We Will Rock You Fast & Slow Barcelona - Featuring Amy Fuller In My Defence Now it's time for a well earned break then we will be back on the road mid May with quite a packed diary for the remainder of 2007. |

Saturday 28th April Yesterday evening we had the huge pleasure of playing to a capacity crowd at the famous Landmarc in Bournemouth. A sold out venue in all it’s splendour of a converted church, combined with splendid hospitality, all helped to inspire a show stopping performance by us all. We are back there for a few shows later in the year and it will now always be a highlight to Rhapsody’s calendar. |

Sunday 6th May Thanks to our good friends at Fox Promotions we had an excellent show in Derbyshire last night. It’s always such a pleasure to work with such huge Queen fans and the show itself was huge fun, well supported and we are hopeful to work with the Fox guys later on in the year at a new venue. |

Friday 18th May Yet another famous live music venue was conquered by Rhapsody yesterday evening.
The legendary Riga Bar in Southend on Sea had wonderful stage and lighting with
a very attentive crew who brought the very best out of our show. A great evening
and it's always comforting to see so many Queen tour T shirts in the crowd. |
Sunday 20th May Last night we visited PJ’s homeland of Gloucestershire and we were left dumbfounded by the fantastic turnout and incredible vibe from what was a packed out venue in Berkeley. Chants of Freddie! Freddie! and Brian! Brian! inspired us to what is in no doubt our best performance to date. The atmosphere was nothing short of electric and again, a venue we look forward to revisiting very soon. |

Sunday 27th May Yesterday evening we had pleasure in playing the famous Carnglaze Caverns. A spectacular live music venue for our night of Queen and with a sold out capacity crowd, we had to be very careful not to bring the roof down. The charity event was hugely successful and it was our pleasure to play for such a worthy cause. |

Sunday 10th June Yesterday evening was full of incident at Exeter University's Summer Ball We had a scheduled late show time so there was plenty of time to kill on the inflatable 5 a side table football. That was until Paul broke his toe on Jason's leg. At first there was hysterics but it proved to be an incredibly uncomfortable night for Paul, which made us laugh even more. The show in itself was great fun and the students loved every second of what we could throw at them. The event was incredibly well organised and we would like to thank Chris for the wonderful endorsement letter and Amanda and Kevin for giving us places to sleep |

Saturday 16th June Emma Thompson threw a birthday bash for her husband's 40th in Warwickshire last night which was our pleasure to be part of.. No matter what age group you are in 'We Will Rock You' and 'We Are The Champions' gets everyone performing their own little impressions of Freddie. In fact there were a lot of 'air guitars' and 'air microphones' all night. A lot of sore heads the following day I suspect Emma!! This was the first show for our new lighting Technician Laurence. Another addition to the Rhapsody family. |

Monday 9th July This weekend we had the huge privilege of playing at the Fribourg Festival in Switzerland. The Stage was in the centre of this beautiful medieval city and the locals' hospitality was delightful. Our show went down an absolute storm and later on in the evening the guys rubbed shoulders with the legendary John Mayall but he didn't have much to say. It would have been remiss of us not to make the 45 minute journey to Montreaux where Queen created such a huge part of their history and of course which where the now legendary Freddie Mercury statue lives. We would like to thank Olga for looking after us so well, the staff at our glorious hotel and all the kind people of Fribourg who made our weekend so memorable |

Sunday 14th July Malborough in Wiltshire is home to a hugely popular festival named Shalfest and this year was their biggest to date. Rhapsody stirred the crowed up nicely as they sang back to us with gusto. The weather was glorious and so was the catering. 10CC were soon to follow us which rapped up a great day's entertainment for the thousands who attended. We had a superb time and hope to be back there in the years to come. |
Friday 3rd August A huge drive to the Northern Events Arena in Pickering was rewarded by a great crowd who obviously loved their Queen. The event is home to the biggest fun fair we have ever witnessed, so after entertaining the hundreds in the venue, we celebrated a great evening by hitting the rides. Dave will have a few stories to tell you about this. |

Saturday 4th August. Tonight we played in Selsey for a 60th party. It's always nice to play a local show around friends and it sure was hot in there. Great fun had by all. |

Sunday 26th August Last night we played the NCO Summer ball held on Thorney Island. In such esteemed company we pulled out a superb show which had guests dancing through the entire 2 sets. Much drink was consumed and there was a real party atmophere that we are sure continued into the wee early hours. A hugely successful evening that was a joy to be part of. |

Monday 27th August This afternoon we played to a huge crowd at the Ledbury Carnival in Gloucestershire. Once the procession had winged its way through the town, we took to the stage and the crowd were behind us. Each song was met with thunderous cheers and by the end of the show, our confidence was truly overflowing so we would like to thank the 1000's that were there for their support and we thank you also for allowing us to be part of your town's special day. |

Sunday 2nd September Last night we played the very well respected rock club JB's in Dudley. The night started off quite slow when the support band took the stage so we were slightly apprehensive prior to taking the stage ourselves but we couldn't have been more wrong. People had suddenly appeared from nowhere, the venue filled and we played to a hugely appreciative crowd cheering and singing along with us. Even members of the John Deacon Fan Club were there and in good voice. The lights and sound were enormous and the whole event really leant itself to a brilliant Rhapsody performance. We are very much looking forward to returning back there next year. |

Sunday 23rd September Yesterday afternoon we were off to Wales and to Gorseinon. We were not sure how the crowd would react to an evening of entertainment considering how passionate they are for their rugby and let's just say that their country's team did not have a good day at the office, however all things rugby appeared to be forgotten once we took the stage as the locals sang along to the greatest hits all night. It was a long hike back to Sussex but it was after a job well done. |

Sunday 7th October Yesterday evening was the first of 2 shows in a week at the legendary Butlins in Skegness. The venue was at complete capacity as 80’s legends Musical Youth of ‘Pass The Duchie’ fame warmed the crowd up wonderfully for us and it was a pleasure chatting with them during the evening. The crowd were in superb party spirits with a majority dressed up in all manner of 1980’s costumes including the occasional Freddie complete with hoover and leather skirt. It was an awesome atmosphere with so much noise being generated from audience we genuinely couldn't hear ourselves at times. PJ’s trousers were tugged and thrown lacey knickers and David was shown a pair of bountiful assets from a female fan. All in great humor of course which inspired us to a show stopping performance. |
Saturday 13th October Yesterday evening was our second show at Butlins in Skegness in a week. The weekend was laid on especially for the Motor Cycle News and bikers sure do like their rock n roll. The huge crowd inspired us to a superb performance and we thank them for making us so welcome. |

Sunday 28th October Tonight took Rhapsody to our capital city and to the Institute of Directors in Pall Mall. The event was a Bar Mitzvah celebration - a Rhapsody first! A three hour interval gave the band a chance to relax, including a visit to The London Eye and Leicester Square. The audience gave us a great response, with disturbingly exuberant air guitar from the youngsters in the crowd. Toda raba! |
Friday 3rd November Sturminster FC tonight was a totally sold out event. With our new lighting rig and special effects, we provided a dynamic show which had the audience calling out for more! Even when the fire alarm went off, no one was leaving the building. This concert helped finance the local Stepping Stones childrens group and a First Repsonse car. |
Saturday 4th November Rhapsody headed to Ipswich for the annual fireworks display in Christchurch Park on Saturday. BBC Suffolk had an entertainment stage featuring a Queen extravaganza, including Ipswich's Co-op Juniors who performed parts from their We Will Rock You musical prior to the main event. Performing to an estimated 16,000 audience the atmosphere was electric.. |

Monday 3rd December It’s been a very busy week for Rhapsody with 3 shows in 4 days. Something we are going to get used to through the festive holiday. Our first show was in Taunton at a very prestigious golf club. The hospitality from our host was quite wonderful and the performance itself was huge fun and very well received by the audience who were up dancing away to the finest of Queen songs. A venue we are very much looking forward to playing next year. Our second show of the weekend was at The Barn theatre Oxted. This gorgeous converted barn home to many Amateur Dramatics for one night was turned into a theatre of Queen for the evening. The sold out 240 guests soaked up as much Queen as we could give them. To quote ‘Let Me Entertain You’ from the awesome Jazz album, there was even ‘dancing in the aisles’ as our confidence was almost at bursting point with the audience participation during Radio Gaga and We Will Rock truly blowing us away. An incredible night within wonderful surroundings and once again, delightful hospitality. It was the first outing for a new addition to the Rhapsody show and that was from a vintage hoover and comedy wig donned by PJ as the crowd lapped up his antics to the fantastic I Want To Break Free. Huge cheers rocked the venue as PJ took the stage recreating the famous video that satired the soap opera Coronation Street. Remember Roger Taylor in the School girls uniform? Now we start a petition for the rest of the guys to get in their frocks so please e mail us here telling us who you are most looking forward to seeing in full costume. Our final show of the weekend was headlining the main stage at Butlins in Bognor Regis. Once again, the huge crowd were behind us from the very first song. Many of them in fancy dress, many armed with inflatable fruits and thus the atmosphere within the venue was electric. Again, I Want To Break Free was a highlight as PJ took the stage with hoover (plus attachment) and wig to huge applause. The crowd response to our ritual Deh Doh’s was breathtaking as was the unison hand clapping in Gaga and Rock You. Huge fun all around and now we take a few days off to recoup until we start a very good run in Bornemouth. |

Monday 10th December Another 2 hugely successful shows under the Rhapsody belt. The first being a private Xmas party for the Nationwide Building Society at the prestigious Carrington Hotel in Bornemouth. No expense was spared on this opulent occasion and the hospitality for the band was once again wonderful. The guests merrily danced away through our one hour set with the highlight being PJ having his feet kissed by guest leaving David being very disappointed when he thrust his buttocks forward with no takers. Great fun on a jolly festive night. Next we had another private party for a Gloucester based plant hire company. The Director, a huge Queen fan was delighted with our show as much as we were delighted with their hospitality which included our very own skittles alley where David reigned triumphant and was thus awarded with the golden king pin for being the Rhapsody skittles champion of 2007. A wonderful evening. |

Sunday 16th December The last week has been exceptionally busy for Rhapsody with four shows in four days. The first two shows were at the legendary Landmark club in Bournemouth. Always a highlight within the Rhapsody calendar, this venue and its audience never disappoint. Their hospitality is out of this world and their sound engineers really do know their arena and thus bring the absolute best out of a Rhapsody performance. The Thursday night show was great fun and it set us up perfectly for what has been said by some, our best performance to date the following evening. The highlight of the 2 shows without question was when Paul & PJ performed We Will Rock You form the spiral stair cases that flanked the stage to a crowd that was nothing short of euphoric. Both of these shows were recorded for prosperity so all being well, clips of these shows should be on our website in the New Year Conveniently our third show of four was also in Bournemouth and it was a return to the wonderful Carrington Hotel. Once again, we were treated like royalty and the corporate crowd was full of praise after our one hour performance of Queen’s greatest hits. The dance floor was never empty and once again, huge fun to be part of such a successful evening. It was an early start the next morning as we all made our way up to Durham to St Mary’s College for a further corporate bash for the cities Royal Mail service and the delightful crowd really loved their Queen with air guitars a unison hand clapping a gogo. It was a long journey but the warmth from the Geordies really made us feel at home and we are delighted that evening was such a huge success. Rhapsody would like to thank the above venues and all of there staff for looking after us so well and thus help create 4 hugely successful evenings. |

Wednesday 2nd January A very happy new year to you all and 2008 kicked off for Rhapsody headlining the celebrations at Butlins in Minehead. In what was a superb party atmosphere, our 2 shorter than usual sets went by in a flash and before we new it we were off stage with another wonderful show under our turkey inflated belts. A key moment was David's keepy uppy soccer skills when a stray football found it's way on stage. It was to the rest of the bands amusement when his hidden talent came at the expense of his bass notes. |

Wednesday 30th January Rhapsody guitarist Paul has been asked to stand in and help out as guitarist in the Queen Tribute – The Bohemians! Paul is due to meet the band and fly out of Heathrow tomorrow for the gig in Panjim (Goa) this Saturday night. Unfortunately The Bohemians guitarist Nick has taken ill over recent days and is unable to make long haul journey. We wish both Paul and The Bohemians for the forthcoming trip, as well as a speedy recovery for Nick. |
Monday 4th February Paul has made it back from Goa in one piece and we caught up with him this afternoon to see what he had to say: “The gig and the guys were great. The Bohemians are a great band and made me feel more than welcome. That coupled with a huge outdoor stage, temperatures in the 90’s; great hospitality; and an awesome UB40 tribute - Rats in The Kitchen – on the same bill, it was a recipe for success. Everyone had a great time, some great Goan food, and one or two Kingfisher to wash it all down. All in all a great week-end. |

Wednesday 13th February David (Rhapsody’s John Deacon) flies out to Switzerland to join Florida Blues man Charlie Morris for his 10th European Tour. All venues were sold out and the new CD “What a Scene” also sold out half way through the last gig. The tour started with a successful live Radio Session at Radio Swiss Romande. So successful that Charlie booked some more studio time at the radio station after the end of the tour. Dave flew back out on the 12th February and the Charlie Morris Band recorded 8 new tracks in 4 hour late night session at the radio. These tracks will form the bulk of Charlie’s next album which will be completed in July when Charlie returns to Switzerland to play the Main Stage at the Fribourg Festival (The very same stage that ‘Rhapsody’ successfully headlined in 2007). |

Sunday 30th March Yesterday evening Rhapsody played to a sell out crowd in their home town in Sussex.
Dr's orders were for Nick to rest up after his knee operation so standing in
on drums was a friend of the band namely Wayne of local rock band 'Dropzone'.
The packed crowd danced all night to our longer than usual set that featured a very unscheduled encore that certainly kept us on our toes. The night was a real test for a dep drummer that he relished by delivering a stunning performance. Wayne will be with us for a next show in Birmingham this coming Saturday. |
